The club lost one of its long term members and former committeemen Keith Self on the 24th of July 2026.
Keith, member number 3, was a key player on the committees of the early 1990s that saw the Ipswich Amateur Turf Club (IATC) transition from Government imposed administration to the Ipswich Turf Club Inc that we know today.
He was a colourful character who lived life to the fullest in both his business and sporting endeavours.
He played rugby league and hockey, he was a boxer and swimmer, an international precision stunt car driver and proprietor of Sandy Gallop Golf Club
He raced many horses over the years and remained an avid punter right up until the end attending the 2026 Ipswich Cup.
Chairman Wayne Patch and the committee of the ITC offer their sincere condolences to his wife Robyn and their family on the loss of a true Ipswich icon.
In a sad week for the Club we also learned of the passing of long time member Brian Christensen. He was a fiercely dedicated ITC member, scarcely missing a meeting. In 2024, he was delighted to share in a photo with Melbourne Cup winning jockey Robbie Dolan and a group of fellow members.
Chairman Wayne Patch and the committee of the ITC offer their sincere condolences to the families of both Keith and Brian on the loss of two wonderful ITC contributors.
