Experience is key for Mark

International jockey Mark Du Plessis is renowned as a good guy of the racetrack but he hasn’t lasted 36 years in racing without also being a tough bugger.
Last July, Mark suffered three fractured vertebrae and a broken rib in a four-horse fall at Ipswich.
Mark did what any jockey would do to get back in the saddle, but he had a higher purpose.
Mark wanted to show his son Cruze, an up-and-coming rider, that he wasn’t going to let a fall force him into retirement.
He reckons Cruze is proud of his Dad.
Mark’s dream is to ride in races with Cruze. He has a few more years till he starts riding professionally so it will take all Mark’s perseverance to keep going.
Let’s hope he makes it.
