What better way to celebrate Australia Day than to join us this Sunday for a seven-race program!
The rail is out 9m the entire course and with a warm day forecast, we should be racing on a Good surface.
So sit back and relax while we do the hard work of finding some winners for you!
Race 1 - 12:50PM SCHWEPPES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (800 METRES)
6 Egzakly
Egzakly ran a bold race when debuting over 800m at Kilcoy last start.
The Jack Bruce-trained grey filly took her strong trial form to the races where she settled handy and ran home well but just couldn’t get past the leader and finished a length second.
She’ll be better for the experience and strip fitter second-up.
It’s important to draw well in these scampers which she has done so for Emily Lang.
Keep an eye on any positive market move for the Sears-trained Lady Encrypteau (9) who hasn’t been seen ahead of her debut and draws perfectly.
Selections: 6-9-5-2
Race 2 - 1:25PM GREAT NORTHERN Class 1 Plate (800 METRES)
6 Enuff Pills
In a race of limited horses, Enuff Pills at least arrives here on the back of a strong win.
The Tenille Ranger-trained mare led from start to finish over 1000m at Coffs Harbour for a 3.5 length win.
She’s at peak fitness and has finished in the placings in all three of her previous starts over this course and distance.
Adin Thompson will look to burn early from the outside barrier.
Selections: 6-4-2-1
Race 3 - 2:00PM LEMSECCO Maiden Handicap (1350 METRES)
2 National Goal
National Goal debuts here for Gold Coast trainer Peter Robl.
The four-year-old gelding looked super in a trial at Ballina where he stormed home down the outside under little riding to win by just under a length.
Blinkers go on which suggests intent.
Jag Guthmann-Chester can give him every chance from the low draw.
Selections: 2-1-8-5
Race 4 - 2:40PM TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1350 METRES)
4 Nails And Pride
Nails And Pride is racing in great form this preparation.
The Marcus Wilson-trained son of Sepoy was brave when winning three starts back at Ballina before being nutted in the shadows of the post to finish a nose second over this course and distance.
He returned to the winner’s stall last start at Lismore where he showed plenty of resolve to lead all the way for a length victory over 1410m at Lismore.
He’s rock hard fit and maps to control the race.
Selections: 4-5-11-7
Race 5 - 3:22PM GORDON'S GIN Fillies & Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)
8 Chemiosmosis
Chemiosmosis has been in good form this preparation besides a heavy track failure here second-up where she clearly didn’t like the wet.
The Lindsay Gough-trained mare has a good record over this course and distance which includes a win last start where she found the line strongly to win by a neck.
Jace McMurray, who claims 1.5kg, was aboard that day and he remains in the saddle.
On his favoured dry track, he can give this a real shake.
Selections: 8-5-7-3
Race 6 - 4:01PM RED BULL AUSTRALIA RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (1700 METRES)
2 Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey has raced well since joining Peter Robl’s stable from New Zealand.
The son of Rock Hero proved too strong when winning first-up over 1415m at Ballina two starts ago before taking ground off Nails And Pride when finishing third by 1.5 lengths at Lismore last start.
The rise to 1700m should suit now with increased fitness third-up.
Jag Guthmann-Chester can settle in a forward position from the kind draw.
Selections: 2-7-1-9
Race 7 - 4:45PM BARRIER REEF POOLS Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)
5 Hell And Back
Hell And Back is at full fitness now and ready to show his best.
The Tony Gollan-trained gelding didn’t have the clearest path in the straight two starts ago at the Sunshine Coast but still managed to find the line well to finish 1.5 lengths third.
He didn’t appreciate the tight Gatton track last start and was held up, so he was unlucky not to win instead of finishing a neck second.
Six furlongs will suit and Ryan Maloney replacing the apprentice is a positive.
Selections: 5-2-3-1
