Tahlia Fenlon is a classic country girl: humble, friendly and just a really nice person. She was raised on her parents’ 600-hectare farm.
She rode trackwork before school in years 10, 11 and 12 at Rockhampton Grammar School.
She had no intentions of being a jockey but because she had been riding trackwork, she left to go into an apprenticeship with family friend Fred Smith.
Tahlia had her first ride as an apprentice jockey in May 2021 in Emerald and the first of her 260 wins came a week later in Gladstone.
At Ipswich racetrack recently, Tahlia’s trademark smile was on show after she combined with Chris and Corey Munce to win on Capital Heart.
