Race 1 - 12:33PM FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1680 METRES)

Uncommon Valour (5) is knocking on the door for a win. Two starts back he found the line strongly to just miss the win at Toowoomba. He then found the front over 1625m at Toowoomba but was nutted right on the winning post. Will carry just 54kg thanks to Angela Jones’ claim.

Cocobrew Express (1) led in the Queensland Guineas over this distance before weakening mid-straight to finish 6.66 lengths fourteenth. He’s much better placed back at this level. He’ll carry basically the same weight thanks to Jake Molloy’s claim and will strip fitter third-up. He has a good record here, winning two from four.

Old Song (6) will appreciate dropping back to this grade after being outclassed in the Princess Stakes last start. Prior to that she won her maiden well first-up before running on well to just miss the win at Beaudesert over a similar distance.

Nippa’s Nightcap (2) beat a few home in the Queensland Guineas last start so will appreciate coming back to midweek level. He was a dominant winner over 1350m here two starts back.

On Top Selection: Uncommon Valour (5)

Race 2 - 1:08PM TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Money Bear (5) was a sick watch for those that backed him last start over this course and distance. He was given a great run by Mark Du Plessis but was blocked for a run shortly after straightening when his stablemate died on its run just in front of him. He never got clear until late by which point the damage had been done. He should have challenged for the win but had to settle for a 2.5 length sixth. He’ll strip fitter third-up.

Dark Harmony (1) resumes here on the back of two trials. He showed good speed to win the most recent by five lengths. He’s had a history of finding one better, finishing second on seven occasions in his nine starts. He’s obviously got ability, but the outside gate makes things tough.

Hell Approaching (2) worked home strongly to finish second in the above-mentioned race for Money Bear. He gets the blinkers again and will be reaching peak fitness.

Humour Me (10) has good early speed and will be in this for a long way. However, she will be feeling the pinch in the final furlong so will need to get a soft lead.

On Top Selection: Money Bear (5)

Race 3 - 1:43PM SEVEN FAMILY DAY 27 MAY Maiden Handicap (1200 METRES)

Landsborough Lad (1) resumes here following two trials. He was given a solid test in his most recent trial over 1200m to ensure he is ready fire first-up. He’s raced well throughout his career but has often found one better, finishing second six times in his eight starts. Maps to get a nice run.

Chance At Midnight (13) has had 13 starts to break his maiden but his two most recent have been his best. Last start he raced wide and weakened late when finishing third over 1350m here. The drop back to 1200m from a good gate looks helpful.

Award Me (6) is having her first start for Marcus Wilson after previously racing in Victoria with Danny O’Brien. Warmed up for this with a solid trial. The booking of Jimmy Orman is a good lead.

I Am Real (14) ran on well last start to finish third over 1100m on the Gold Coast Poly. That was a good turnaround in her form and she may be ready to put her best foot forward. The rise in distance helps.

On Top Selection: Landsborough Lad (1)

Race 4 - 2:18PM GREAT NORTHERN Class 2 Handicap (2170 METRES)

Missy Moola (1) has plenty of weight to carry but is a talented filly that’s looking to make the Oaks field. The former Group 2 placed kiwi is now with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and has warmed up for this with two trials. She’s worked to the line well in both against opposition like Mazu and Aft Cabin. She’ll be ridden by Adam Hyeronimus who is having his first race ride since September 2020.

Untethered (3) is another kiwi looking towards the Carnival and the Derby. He went forward and weakened in the heavy conditions last start over 2100m in a Group 3 at Pukekohe Park so he should appreciate a dry track. Gets the services of Ben Thompson.

Carbonetti (2) worked to the line well when finishing second by 3.8 lengths over 1850m at Toowoomba last start. He’ll appreciate the rise in distance and maps to get a nice run.

Idling By (6) is a real grinder. She went close to winning over 2000m at Warwick two starts back before enduring a tough run from a wide gate here last start. Can bounce back from a better draw.

On Top Selection: Missy Moola (1)

Race 5 - 2:53PM KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1680 METRES)

A Call From Heaven (3) takes on this distance for the first time but looks ready for it at this stage of her career. Last start over 1350m here she worked to the line quite well for third but her stablemate Kinetic had her measure. That horse has since won again. She’ll be at peak fitness third-up and has the advantage of Angela Jones’ claim. Loves Ipswich.

Schmoozer (5) has come back this preparation in good style. 1000m was too short for him first-up at the Sunshine Coast but he still found a way to win. He then found the line powerfully at Toowoomba to win over 1350m last start. He looks ready to take on the mile. Jake Molloy’s claim is a big help.

Adalissa (11) was doing her best work late when finishing third to Ravaging Award over 1300m at Toowoomba first-up. She’ll strip fitter second-up and will appreciate the rise in distance.

Better Explain (4) will need luck from the outside gate. Bolted in at Warwick two starts back before a solid third in when stepping up to 1600m at the Sunshine Coast.

On Top Selection: A Call From Heaven (3)

Race 6 - 3:28PM RAY WHITE IPSWICH Class 1 Plate (1100 METRES)

Ring Of Steel (2) could not have been more impressive when winning on debut over 1200m here by 6.5 lengths. He was thrown in the deep end last start where he found the field far too hot in the Mick Dittman Plate. He’ll appreciate coming back to this class. He’s drawn a touch sticky but gets the services of top jockey Jimmy Orman. At time of writing he was also accepted in the next race.

Hurts So Good (1) made an impression when dashing clear to win by two lengths on debut at Toowoomba. That was despite racing wide and having a warning placed on it for its racing manners. He’ll be better for the experience and will appreciate the slight rise in distance. Claim helps.

Caesaris (8) broke through for her maiden win first-up at the Sunshine Coast. She then was picked off on the winning post be Deb’s Ellie last start. That horse has since won again at Rockhampton to provide Sam Collett with her 1000th career win. The rise in trip suits third-up.

Tarps (3) returned in terrific fashion with a 8.5 length win on the Gold Coast Poly over 1100m. This is tougher and he carries more weight. Drawn well.

On Top Selection: Ring Of Steel (2)

Race 7 - 4:03PM RIVER 94.9FM BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1100 METRES)

Deep Rouge (10) resumes here without a public trial. She races particularly well fresh and has won both her first-up races since joining the Lockwood stable. One of those was over this course and distance. She’s raced well in stronger races than this and should enjoy a nice run. Jaden Lloyd’s claim helps.

Ring Of Steel (21) can run a race for the reasons listed in the above race. If he races here, he’s drawn to get the run of the race from barrier 2.

Immoral (7) is a consistent gelding that broke through for an overdue win last start at Beaudesert. He’s drawn well and gets Ryan Maloney in the saddle.

Pretty Devine (13) wasn’t too far away when finishing third on the Gold Coast Poly first-up. She’ll strip fitter second-up and can race on speed.

On Top Selection: Deep Rouge (10)

Race 8 - 4:38PM TAB IPSWICH CUP TICKETS ON SALE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Crazy Train (6) won over this course and distance first-up before running on strongly for fourth behind Self Indulgent in a Saturday race. She beat home Beaux Rumble and that horse won on Saturday here. She’ll strip fitter and looks well placed back at midweek level.

Roll Up (11) resumes here off a nice trial where he sat wide but still got to the line well under his own steam. He races well fresh and did win here first-up last preparation before going on to compete in stronger three-year-old races. Jimmy Orman takes the ride and has a good relationship with the horse.

Giulia (4) resumes here following a 21-week spell. While she hasn’t won in four first-up runs, she always runs well finishing in the placings in three of them. She’s competed in and won stronger races than this. She maps to get a great run for Sam Collett who has won on her three times.

Miss Mckinley (5) has been in consistent form this preparation, winning once and placing three other times. Maps to get a beautiful run and gets 3kg weight relief for the claim.

On Top Selection: Crazy Train (6)
