The smorgasbord of Ipswich racing continues with the club hosting a Sunday six pack.
We’re on the quick back-up following Thursday’s meeting and once again racing will take place on an improving rain-affected surface.
We’ve studied the form to help you find a winner and end your weekend on the right note.
Race 1 - 2:10PM CONGRATULATIONS ANNA AND MICHAEL QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1200 METRES)
1 Bloodhawke
Bloodhawke on face value was disappointing when debuting with a 5.23 length sixth over 1200m at Doomben two starts ago.
However, the Chris Munce-trained gelding was found to have poor recovery.
That race has produced four subsequent winners including Bloodhawke who bounced back in a big way when leading all the way on a soft Doomben last start.
He’ll strip fitter third-up and should be able to lead for Robbie Dolan.
Selections: 1-4-3-2
Race 2 - 2:50PM WELCOME IMPERIAL RACING Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap (1100 METRES)
4 Remlaps Angel
Remlaps Angel returns for her second preparation following a 17-week spell.
The David Vandyke-trained Hellbent filly finished second on debut despite being green before suffering from heat stress in her second start.
She warmed up for this first-up assignment with a highly impressive trial at the Sunshine Coast where she went straight to the front and dashed clear to win by six lengths, running nearly two seconds quicker than any other trial on the same day.
That was a month ago, so no doubt DVD has jumped her out to keep her ticking over.
Unfortunately, the TAB traders have set a prohibitive price for her, so we’ll be hoping she gets out on race day.
Selections: 4-12-7-1
Race 3 - 3:24PM GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Handicap (1350 METRES)
5 Rolling Rock
Rolling Rock did well against the pattern of the day to finish sixth by 4.8 lengths in the Magic Millions Maiden over 1400m at the Gold Coast last start.
The daughter of Pierro was resuming and was also having her first start for Adam Campton settled back after drawing wide before rattling home when it was tough to do on a leader biased day.
She’ll strip fitter at second run back and has placed over similar distances in both her previous second-up runs.
There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race so hopefully Andrew Mallyon is positive and settles in a prominent position.
Selections: 5-2-15-6
Race 4 - 4:08PM EVENTS AT IEEC.COM.AU BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (2150 METRES)
3 Osaka Miss
Osaka Miss has been up for a long time but keep producing solid performances.
The Marcus Wilson-trained mare drops in class after beaten tactically last start over 2450m at Beaudesert when finishing second.
Three starts back she ran on strongly to win easily by two lengths over 2200m at Grafton.
The course and distance winner draws to get an economical run for leading Ipswich jockey Jimmy Orman.
Selections: 3-4-6-1
Race 5 - 4:45PM SEVEN NEWS Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap (1100 METRES)
5 Hachiman
Hachiman looks close to a win after two good runs since joining Kris Lees’ stable and moving to Queensland.
The Brave Smash gelding fought bravely to go down by a nose when finishing second two starts ago at the Sunshine Coast.
Last start at Eagle Farm he was held up badly behind a tiring leader when finishing third by 1.5 lengths.
If he got clear air earlier, he would have gone close to winning.
Andrew Mallyon can settle handy and he loves rain-affected going.
Selections: 5-4-8-10
Race 6 - 5:15PM TAB Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap (1100 METRES)
6 Liqueur Gold
Liqueur Gold is having her first start since winning at Warwick in August.
The four-year-old mare was first-up that day and having her first start for Mark Goodwin after previously racing in Victoria.
She overcame a wide barrier to storm home for an easy 2.8 length victory.
Karl Zechner, who rode her last start, can settle handy from barrier 2.
Selections: 6-2-3-5
