We host metropolitan racing this Wednesday where six races are scheduled to be run and won.
The rail is out 6.5m and at time of writing on Tuesday the track was rated a Soft 5.
Continue reading for our top selections in each race.
Race 1 - 2:48PM GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap (1350 METRES)
3 Miss Sha Blue
Miss Sha Blue has come back this preparation in fine style.
The Glenn Thornton-trained Better Than Ready filly finished off strongly when resuming at Lismore to win her maiden over 1106m.
She then stepped up to this class race last start and ran on well to overhaul Femme Fatale to win narrowly over 1200m at Doomben.
Both wins were on soft tracks so she should feel comfortable if the surface here is rain-affected.
Selections: 3-2-1-6
Race 2 - 3:23PM SCHWEPPES Class 3 Handicap (1690 METRES)
1 Whisky Dream
Toowoomba trainer Kevin Kemp has Whiskey Dream low flying and the gelding enters this race looking to make it three wins in a row.
The four-year-old son of Dream Ahead bolted in two starts back over 1640m at Doomben before proving that was no fluke by again charging to the line for a dominant 2.8 length victory.
He was found to be lame after his most recent win, which adds even more substance to the victory.
He’s been given three weeks to get over that run and looks ideally placed here with Cejay Graham claiming 1.5kg.
Selections: 1-5-4-3
Race 3 - 3:58PM TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1690 METRES)
12 On The Veuve
On The Veuve was given no hope when debuting at Eagle Farm last start as a $91 rank outsider but nobody told her that she supposed to be slow.
The Rex Lipp-trained daughter of So You Think settled near the tail of the field over 1400m before flying home in the straight as if she had a rocket attached to her to finish third by 1.7 lengths.
She’ll have taken improvement from the run and will be better for the experience second-up.
The rise in distance looks ideal, so she just has to handle the tighter Ipswich track.
Selections: 12-9-11-10
Race 4 - 4:33PM BARRIER REEF POOLS Class 5 Handicap (1100 METRES)
2 Jemeldi
Jemeldi has been racing well this preparation and looks set to continue his good form.
The Ryan Tyrell-trained gelding opened this preparation with two close seconds before taking on open class horses in her next two starts where he was far from disgraced.
Back in a more suitable race last start, he gave a sight in a $100k race at the Sunshine Coast where he finished third by 1.4 lengths.
He maps to get a great run for Kyle Wilson-Taylor.
Selections: 2-1-5-7
Race 5 - 5:10PM STAR OF CSI Maiden Plate (1350 METRES)
12 Torabella
Torabella will make her debut in this 1350m Maiden following two very good trials.
The Tony Gollan-trained three-year-old filly worked to the line well for a nose win despite sitting three deep in her first trial at Deagon over 1050m.
She looked an even better commodity in her second trial at the Sunshine Coast where she powerfully found the line under her own steam to win comfortably.
Angela Jones has a good feel for this filly and will give her every opportunity.
Selections: 12-3-10-4
Race 6 - 5:45PM SEVEN Class 1 Handicap (1350 METRES)
5 To Wish
To Wish is looking to go back-to-back after impressing last start when winning her maiden.
Following a solid debut performance, the Tony Gollan-trained mare worked home strongly over 1200m at Doomben to finish a head second.
Blinkers went on the daughter of Fastnet Rock last start, and it made a big difference with her easily winning over 1200m at Eagle Farm.
She’s at peak fitness fourth up and the rise to 1350m looks ideal.
Selections: 5-6-2-3
